Chandipura virus death toll in Gujarat reaches 33

Ahmedabad, 22 July (HS): The havoc of Chandipura virus continues in the state. This virus has spread from village to city. Monsoon rain in the state helped in it spreading. To check it, the administration is running relief and rescue work at many levels. Arrangements have been kept on standby in hospitals, while in many places children are being treated in special wards.

Though this disease does not spread through infection ,the administration is engaged in controlling its main cause, sand fly. With the death of three children on Monday, the number of deaths increased to 33. On Monday, one child each died in Suigam of Banaskantha, Ransiki of Gondal in Rajkot and Devbhoomi Dwarka district. With this, the number of suspected cases of Chandipura virus has increased to 84.

According to the information, a 7-year-old boy was admitted to Janana Hospital in Rajkot on Sunday after his health deteriorated in Ransiki village of Gondal tehsil of Rajkot district. All kinds of tests were being conducted on the child but he died during treatment on Monday before the report came. Ghanshyam Kachadia, Sarpanch of Ransiki village of Gondal, has informed that one child died in his house and the other child died in the hospital. In this way, he has claimed two deaths. Apart from this, a suspected patient of Chandipura died on Monday morning in Suigaon of Banaskantha. Statewide situation
