Vadodara School Wall Collapse: Parents Demand Inquiry

Vadodara - In a shocking incident at Shri Narayan Vidyalaya near Waghodia Road Gurukul Square, a classroom wall collapsed on Friday afternoon, injuring four students. CCTV footage shows the wall collapsing during recess as the children were eating tiffin. Initially, the school administration reported one injury, but the footage reveals four children falling to the ground.

The seventh-grade classroom wall collapsed, causing the students and their benches to fall 10 feet to the ground floor. One student required stitches on his head, while three others sustained minor injuries. Following the incident, the fire department and police promptly arrived on the scene to begin their investigation. The father of the injured student has already filed a complaint at the local police station.

Parents are now rallying for accountability, with the Vadodara Parents Association planning to meet with school officials and demand action. They intend to submit a memorandum to the District Education Officer (DEO), requesting the registration of an FIR against the school administration.

According to sources, the students fell from a height of 20 feet, but a shed below the first-floor conference hall where the incident occurred mitigated the impact, saving all but one child from severe injury. The Kapurai police are actively investigating, noting that the building had BU permission and a structural safety certificate issued just a month prior. Shri Narayan Vidyalaya, which educates over 1200 students, will remain closed until Monday.

Rupal Shah, Principal of the Gujarati medium school, stated that the incident occurred around 12:30 pm. "We were in our office when we heard the noise and rushed to the scene. The children's bicycles were also damaged. We will take necessary action after consulting with the trustees," Shah said.

The community awaits further developments as the investigation continues and parents push for a thorough inquiry to ensure such an incident does not happen again.
