22 students killed as school building collapsed

Abuja, 13 July (HS):- A two-storeyed school building collapsed killing 22 students in Nigeria on Friday. 132 others were injured in the incident.

The incident occurred at Saints Academy College in Plateau State’s Busa Buji community, in north-central Nigeria. Most of the students below 15 years of age had arrived for classes, when the school building collapsed around 9.20 am.

According to the newspaper Nigerian Tribune, a total of 154 students were trapped, but 132 of them were rescued and were being treated in hospitals. Plateau police spokesperson Alfred Alabo confirmed the deaths of 22 students. Rescue operation was immediately launched.
