Thief Posing as Customer Steals INR 12 Lakh Worth of Jewelry in Surat
Police investigate the heist caught on CCTV while an unrelated Jharkhand gang member is arrested in Ahmedabad
Surat: A bold theft occurred in the Adajan area of Surat when a man disguised as a customer stole jewelry worth INR 12 lakh ($16,000) from a local jeweler. The thief made off with a gold chain, bracelet, and gold earrings. The entire incident was captured on the store's CCTV camera.
After being informed of the theft, police registered a case and have initiated an investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrator.
In a separate, unrelated incident, the Amraiwadi police arrested a member of the Jharkhand gang, known for stealing mobile phones. Inder Mandal, the arrested suspect, was caught with 70 stolen mobile phones. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the Jharkhand gang, including Mandal, had stolen over 200 mobile phones in total.
The Jharkhand gang, comprised of five individuals, had traveled to Ahmedabad from their home state of Jharkhand with the intention of stealing mobile phones. The group targeted crowded areas during events in the city, where they would slip away with their victims' mobile devices undetected.
