SOG Conducts Surprise Raids in Surat's Posh Areas Late at Night

In a significant operation, the Surat Special Operation Group (SOG) conducted surprise raids in various posh areas of the city late at night. Targeting cafes and paan shops, the raids covered 38 locations, including Piplode, Vesu, Althan, and Pal. This late-night sweep aimed to curb drug use and enforce closing times.

The operators of the shops and cafes, which were open past 11 pm, were instructed to adhere strictly to the closing time. Patrons present during the raids were also advised to stay away from drugs.

SOG had received information suggesting drug consumption in certain cafes and paan shops, with special smoking areas set up for this purpose. Acting on these tips, SOG carried out the surprise inspections, thoroughly searching those found open after 11 pm.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rajdeep Singh Nakum stated that the raids revealed some late-night smoking zones in tea shops and cafes where drug use was suspected. Operators of these establishments were warned about the curfew, and patrons were given strict instructions.

The operation saw the involvement of 80 policemen, who meticulously inspected 38 locations. Despite suspicions and the thorough nature of the searches, no drugs were found during the operation. DCP Nakum assured that such search operations would continue to ensure compliance and curb illegal activities.
