E-Bike Charging Fire Claims Life in Surat

This morning in Surat's Limbayat area, a tragic accident occurred when an e-bike charging behind a residential building caught fire. The blaze quickly spread to a gas cylinder inside the house, causing an explosion that trapped a family of five. An 18-year-old girl, Mahima Dolaram Sirvi, perished in the inferno, while her parents and siblings sustained severe burns and were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Fire Details and Investigation

Firefighters promptly arrived at the scene to control the blaze. Initial investigations revealed that the fire started from an overcharged electric moped's battery, which exploded at 5:35 am. The ensuing fire caused a gas cylinder to explode, exacerbating the situation and spreading the flames to the parking lot and shop below. The sleeping family upstairs was caught in the fire, leading to the tragic death of the young girl.

In response to the incident, authorities have issued warnings to exercise caution when charging electronic devices at home. They emphasized keeping devices away from flammable materials and ensuring chargers are unplugged when not in use.
