Fire at SSG Hospital in Vadodara, No Casualties

Vadodara : Chaos erupted at Vadodara's Sayajirao Gaikwad (SSG) Hospital on Wednesday morning when a fire broke out in the ENT department. The fire, caused by a short circuit in a ventilator, was quickly contained, preventing any loss of life.

The incident occurred around 7:30 AM in the operation theater of the ENT department. According to Karan Parab, Fire Officer of the Fire Department, the fire started due to a spark in an electric machine during plugging in and out. As the fire spread, a nurse immediately attempted to extinguish it using a fire extinguisher. However, a loud explosion in the machine caused the fire to spread further, filling the room with smoke.

The hospital's fire team promptly arrived at the scene and successfully controlled the blaze. Thankfully, no injuries or burns were reported, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

This incident is one of several recent fire outbreaks in medical and educational institutions. On Tuesday, a fire in a school in Jamnagar was controlled without injuries. Similarly, 20 days ago, a fire at the Cancer Hospital of Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad was contained, preventing a major accident. Another fire occurred on April 2, 2024, at the Civil Hospital of Gandhinagar, where an AC explosion in the Gynecology department prompted the evacuation of patients. Most recently, on June 18, a short circuit in a hospital near Simada Naka in Surat caused a fire that was quickly extinguished by staff.

These incidents highlight the critical importance of fire safety measures and prompt responses in averting potential disasters.
