The Gujarat team won the gold medal in the ice stock game at the third edition of the Khelo India National Winter Olympic Games-2023 held in Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir. The winning team was led by Captain Drishti Vasava of Bharuch's Netrang and consisted of Simran Agarwal of Surat, Vishwa, and Khyati Gamet of Tapi district.
Over 1500 athletes from across the country competed in 11 sports in this major multi-sport competition to promote sports at the grassroots level in India. The Khelo India Winter Games 2023 featured sports such as alpine skiing, curling, bobsleigh, skeleton, snowshoe, Nordic skiing, snowboarding, ski mountaineering, ice skating, ice hockey, and bandy.
The Khelo India Winter Games is part of the Khelo India program initiated by the Indian Government to promote sports at the grassroots level in the country. The last two editions of the competition, held in 2020 and 2021, were jointly hosted by Gulmarg and Leh, and Jammu and Kashmir dominated in both.
In the inaugural edition, Jammu and Kashmir won 76 medals, while the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) and Uttarakhand stood second and third in the medal tally, respectively. In 2021, Jammu and Kashmir won 34 gold medals, with Karnataka and Maharashtra occupying the second and third place in the medal tally.
