Supreme Court refuses to stay NEET counselling

New Delhi, June 13 (HS): The Supreme Court has once again refused to stay the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) counselling. Lawyer of Alakh Pandey of Physics Coaching Institute said that grace marks were given which is not fair. The court has issued a notice to NTA on his petition. The next hearing of the case will be on July 8.

The Supreme Court said that the counselling will continue and "we will not stop it". The Supreme Court said that "if the exam is cancelled in our decision, then the counselling will be automatically cancelled. So there is no need to worry."

During the hearing, the NTA told the Supreme Court that after the meeting held on June 12, a decision has been taken that the 1,563 candidates who have been given grace marks will have to appear for the exam again. All the score cards issued to 1563 candidates will be cancelled. They will be given the option of re-examination.

Earlier on June 11, the Supreme Court had issued a notice to NTA while hearing a petition demanding cancellation of NEET. The Supreme Court had said that the dignity of the exam has been affected. In such a situation, NTA will have to respond. However, the court refused to ban counseling for the time being.
