Three Ahmedabad Youths Drown in Galteshwar Confluence

Nadiad – Tragedy struck on Sunday afternoon when three youths from Ahmedabad drowned while bathing in the confluence of the Mahisagar and Galti rivers near Galteshwar in Kheda district. Local swimmers managed to rescue one youth from the group of nine friends who had gone to Galteshwar for a visit.

The incident occurred as several members of the group decided to bathe in the Mahisagar river. One youth began to struggle in deep water, prompting three others to attempt a rescue. Unfortunately, all three would-be rescuers also started to drown. Hearing their cries for help, local swimmers quickly intervened, saving one youth. However, three others were lost to the deep waters.

The body of one youth, identified as Pradeep Vaghela of Ahmedabad, was recovered on Sunday. The bodies of the other two, Hitesh Chavda (39, resident of Khokhara, Ahmedabad) and Sunil Kushwaha (resident of Vatva, Ahmedabad), were retrieved on Monday.

PSI MH Rawal of Sevalia police station confirmed that the group had come to Galteshwar, a historical religious site in Thasara tehsil of Kheda district. He stated that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. The tragic incident highlights the risks associated with swimming in unfamiliar and potentially dangerous waters.
