New Labor and Industrial Courts Building Completed in Surat's Vesu

Construction of the Labor and Industrial Courts building in Vesu, Surat, is finished, awaiting inauguration post Lok Sabha elections. The move aims to improve court operations, providing space for 10 labor courts and 4 industrial courts, with amenities like a lawyers' room, women lawyers' room, conference room, and library. Consideration is underway to shift Surat's main court to Vesu for better connectivity.

Surat: The construction of the Labor and Industrial Courts building in Vesu, Surat, has been successfully completed, setting the stage for a potential inauguration following the Lok Sabha elections. Currently housed in the Surat District Collector Office Building, both courts are set to be relocated to Vesu, a decision made in response to lawyers' demands for a new venue.

Under the directive of the High Court, the new judicial complex boasts space for 10 labor courts and 4 industrial courts. Additional facilities include a dedicated room for lawyers, a separate space for women lawyers, a conference room, and a library equipped for studying legal precedents. Adequate parking facilities have also been provided for vehicles.

The relocation of these courts to Vesu is anticipated to enhance connectivity with other courts, facilitating smoother transitions for lawyers between different courtrooms. District Judge R.T. Vachani has inspected the Vesu site and deemed it suitable for potentially relocating the main court of Surat.

A final decision regarding the shift of Surat's main court is expected post Lok Sabha elections. Should this relocation occur, a new judicial complex will be established in Vesu. This move is particularly beneficial for women lawyers, as it would provide easier access to the main court from Bhatha, where the family court and consumer court are located.

Women lawyers in Surat are expressing their preference for Bhatha as the new location, alongside Vesu. Advocate Preeti Jignesh Joshi highlighted the establishment of a family court in Pal and shifting the main district court to Bhatha would greatly benefit women lawyers practicing in both the main court and family court of Surat, given the close proximity between Bhatha and Pal. Moreover, locating the consumer court one and a half to two kilometers from Pal would offer added convenience to lawyers.
