Surat, Gujarat - April 19th: Limbayat police, acting on a tip-off, have unearthed a scam involving the illegal sale of duplicate cooking oil. In a raid conducted on multiple shops in the area, officers seized 54 cans of counterfeit cottonseed oil.

The action follows a tip received by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Bhagirath Gadhvi regarding the sale of fake oil brands in Limbayat. DCP Gadhvi directed Inspector S.B. Padheria of Limbayat Police Station to investigate the matter. A team led by PSI G.V. Dihora of the Zone 2 Local Crime Branch (LCB) squad along with surveillance personnel conducted raids on eight different grocery shops.

During the raids, officers discovered that N.K. Proteins Pvt Ltd Tirupati was illegally selling cottonseed oil by copying the labels of a popular brand. A total of 54 cans of this duplicate oil were seized. Police have registered a case under the Copyright Act against those involved in selling the adulterated oil.
