Basic Customs Duty Exemption on Textile Machinery Imports Extended

The Government of India has extended the basic customs duty exemption on textile machinery imports until March 2025, following a representation by the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Chamber President Himanshu Bodawala believes this decision will significantly benefit the entire textile sector.

The extension comes as Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently approved the development of the Pradhan Mantri Park at Vanshi Borsi, near Navsari and Surat. This government decision is expected to attract new investment in advanced textile machinery, leading to the rapid development of PM Mitra Park.

Bodawala expressed his gratitude on behalf of the South Gujarat trade and industry to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of State for Textiles and Railways Darshanaben Zardosh, and MP and State President of Gujarat BJP C.R. Patil for the government's decision.
