Organ Donation: Suresh Patel's Legacy of Giving
Surat, March 8 - Suresh Motiram Patel, a native of Baban village in Bardoli, Surat, who settled in America in 1983 and built a successful life there, returned to his roots last year. Tragically, on March 5, Suresh suffered a brain hemorrhage and was admitted to Shishudeep Hospital in Bardoli. Despite efforts, he was declared brain dead on March 7 at INS Hospital in Surat.
Suresh's sons, Hiren and Mitesh, recalled their father's wish to donate his organs if he ever became brain dead. The family, understanding the significance firsthand as their uncle had donated a kidney in 2014, decided to honor Suresh's wish. This decision meant that Suresh's liver and eyes were donated, providing a new lease of life to individuals in need.
After receiving consent from the family, Donate Life facilitated the organ donation process. Suresh's liver was allocated to KD Hospital in Ahmedabad, where a 40-year-old man from Balasinor underwent a successful liver transplant. His eyes were donated to the Lok Drishti Eye Bank.
The donation process was facilitated by a green corridor, ensuring the timely delivery of the liver to KD Hospital. Suresh, survived by his wife Manjulaben and sons Hiren and Mitesh, leaves behind a legacy of generosity, contributing to the 1208 organs and tissues donated by Donate Life from Surat and South Gujarat, which have impacted over 1109 lives across the country and abroad.
