Surat Chamber Hosts Seminar on E-Commerce Entrepreneurship
The South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce (SGCC) recently organized a seminar titled "E-Commerce Entrepreneur 1.0" to empower aspiring entrepreneurs and young minds in Surat to tap into the booming e-commerce sector. The event featured prominent industry leaders who shared valuable insights and success principles.
The seminar highlighted the significant growth of e-commerce in India. Chamber President Ramesh Vaghasia emphasized the vast potential, stating, "With India's e-commerce market reaching US$113 billion and projected to hit US$300 billion by 2030, there's a goldmine of opportunities for entrepreneurs and youth."
Deepak Sheth, founder of Apple Group, provided a historical perspective on e-commerce's journey in India, particularly in Surat. He elaborated on how customer confidence has grown significantly, with online shopping rising from a mere 1% share to 6% due to streamlined return policies.
Hiren Lathiya, founder of Limbudi Fashion, proudly declared Surat as the "Manchester of e-commerce textiles," even surpassing Delhi in menswear sales. However, he acknowledged challenges faced by entrepreneurs, particularly in areas like control and auditing.
Siddhant Agarwal, founder of Avami Herbal, presented a heart-warming story of building a successful brand through social media, emphasizing the power of a quality product that resonates with customers.
Punit Gupta, CEO of Easycom, highlighted the ease of entry in e-commerce. "Young entrepreneurs are thriving," he said. "Anyone can sell across the globe from a small shop or even home."
Speakers like Srikant Chandak, Chairman of Keshavi Fashion LLP, and Chetan Kanani, co-founder of Alpino Health Foods, stressed the importance of understanding customer needs and data-driven decision-making for success.
Nirav Nakrani, founder of Chipperzone E-Com LLP, concluded the event by urging entrepreneurs to constantly innovate and diversify their offerings. He also advised against relying on a single sales channel in the dynamic e-commerce landscape.
