Widow Duped by False Marriage Promises in Surat
Police Take Man into Custody after Betrayal and Threats
Surat, Varachha Heerabagh – A 33-year-old widow, identified as Kala (name changed), was deceived by a man who promised marriage after a friendly arrangement, only to be abandoned and threatened with a false case. Kapodra police have taken the man into custody following Kala's complaint.
Kala, who has two children, resides in the Varachha Heerabagh area and was introduced to Vallabh Sudhabhai Sankhat, a resident of Girnar Society, Mota Varachha, through a neighbor. Kala's husband, who regularly abused her, died in 2020 during the Corona period. After her husband's death, Vallabh promised to take care of Kala and her children, claiming to be tired of his own wife's harassment.
The couple, living together under a 'friendship agreement,' intended to marry after Vallabh divorced his wife. They jointly purchased a flat in the Hirabag locality, but Vallabh registered the property under his name only. After living together as husband and wife and engaging in sexual relations multiple times, Vallabh refused to marry Kala and insisted on staying with his wife.
Upon contacting Vallabh's mother and wife, Kala faced intimidation and threats of being implicated in a false case. Ultimately, Kala filed a complaint against Vallabh, leading to his arrest by the police. The case highlights the vulnerability of widows and the need for stronger legal protection against deception and exploitation. Authorities are now investigating the matter and ensuring justice for Kala, who was left abandoned and threatened after trusting Vallabh's false promises of marriage and support.
