Surat : Landlord Loses Heart and Savings: Woman and Lover Flee with Sale Proceeds

Surat : A landlord's trust in his tenant turned into heartbreak and financial loss after a woman and her lover allegedly stole Rs 96 lakh from him, following a romantic entanglement. The incident highlights the dangers of misplaced trust and the lengths some may go to exploit it.

Dilip Ukani, 39, rented out his house in Katargam to Jayshree Bhagat, 29, and her two sons. Over time, a relationship blossomed between Dilip and Jayshree, leading them to cohabit even as she remained married. Fueled by promises of marriage, Dilip convinced Jayshree to move in with him at his new apartment.

Driven by the desire to start a new life together, Dilip sold his previous house, netting Rs 96.44 lakh. He kept the cash at home, unaware of the betrayal brewing. On January 31st, Jayshree left under the pretense of dropping her sons off, vanishing soon after. When Dilip returned home, the money and both their phones were gone.

Realizing he had been duped, Dilip filed a complaint. Police, acting swiftly, tracked down Jayshree in Surat and apprehended her. Investigation led them to her accomplice, Shubham Misal, 30, her lover. The couple had fled to Pune with the stolen money.

While Rs 70 lakh was recovered, the remaining sum's whereabouts remain under investigation. This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of caution in personal and financial matters, especially when dealing with romantic relationships. The consequences of misplaced trust can be devastating, both emotionally and financially.
