Ahmedabad Gets Two New Flyovers for Smoother Traffic Flow
₹185 Crore Approved for Panjrapole and Panchvati Junction Flyovers
Gandhinagar : Aiming to ease traffic congestion and improve urban mobility, the Gujarat government has given in-principle approval for the construction of two new flyover bridges in Ahmedabad. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel allocated ₹185.12 crore for the flyovers at Panjrapole Junction and Panchvati Junction.
The Panjrapole Junction Flyover will be 652 meters long and 17 meters wide, with an estimated cost of ₹86.94 crore. The Panchvati Junction Flyover will be slightly longer at 779.19 meters and also 17 meters wide, with a construction cost of ₹98.18 crore.
This initiative is part of the Golden Jubilee Chief Minister Urban Development Scheme, which aims to build 75 flyovers across the state, including 20 in Ahmedabad. The state government has already approved ₹612.86 crore for seven of these flyovers in the city.
The decision aligns with the government's focus on "Ease of Living." This year's budget allocated ₹21,696 crore to the Urban Development Department for improving urban infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and transportation. An additional ₹8,634 crore has been earmarked for further improvements in metropolitan municipalities and urban areas.
Furthermore, the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shahri Vikas Yojana has been extended for three years until 2026-27 to ensure continued comprehensive development of Gujarat's cities.
These new flyovers promise to significantly reduce traffic congestion in Ahmedabad, enhancing convenience and connectivity for residents and commuters alike. They represent a crucial step towards achieving the government's vision of a more modern and livable urban landscape.
