Trio Arrested for Snatching Rs 1.20 Lakh from Auto Rickshaw Passengers
Habitual Criminals Nabbed After High-Speed Chase in Surat
Three habitual criminals in Surat were apprehended by the police after snatching a purse containing Rs 1.20 lakh from a mother and son traveling in an auto rickshaw. The trio, who had paid Rs 2,000 for a trip, used a friend's sports bike for the snatch. Police arrested the accused and seized goods worth more than Rs 78,000.
Acting on a tip-off, Udhna police arrested 21-year-old Asfaq alias Maya alias Kalia Yusuf Shaikh, Taufiq Ibrahim, and 20-year-old Moin alias Bobda alias Pera Sarwarkhan Pathan while they were traveling on a Yamaha FZ bike near Bhimnagar Garnala. A total of more than Rs 78,000 worth of goods, including gold and silver jewelry, mobile phones, and bikes, were seized from them.
All three criminals had a history of similar crimes. Five days prior, at around 5 am, they snatched a purse containing cash from a passenger in an auto rickshaw near Udhna BRC. Kamlesh Kamrubhai Darediya and his mother Shahenazben were the victims in this incident. The purse contained an amount of Rs 1.20 lakh, including gold and silver jewelry and cash.
These three individuals had previous convictions and had paid 22-year-old Asif Hayat Khan Pathan Rs 2,000 to use his bike for purse snatching. Asif has also been arrested by the police.
