Vadodara Businessman Files Fraud Complaint After Losing Over Rs 1 Crore in Investment Scam

Vadodara : A businessman in Vadodara has filed a complaint with the JP Road police station against a person who allegedly extorted over Rs 1 crore from him and his brother under the guise of investing in their courier service business.

Dhirendrakumar Singh, owner of Air State Courier and Cargo Service, claims that Bhanu Khatri approached him in 2018, expressing interest in partnering in the business. After initially gaining Singh's trust by returning small investments with profit, Khatri allegedly took a total of Rs 1.05 crore – Rs 94.88 lakh from Singh and Rs 10.50 lakh from his brother Jitendra – promising significant investment in the company.

Despite repeated requests, Singh says Khatri failed to return the money. With their pleas ignored, the brothers were forced to turn to the police for help.

Based on Singh's complaint, the JP Road Police have registered a case against Khatri and are working to apprehend him. The investigation is ongoing.

This incident serves as a cautionary tale for businesses, highlighting the importance of due diligence before entering into any financial agreements. Investors are advised to thoroughly research potential partners and verify their credentials before handing over any money.
