President Murmu Inspires Graduates at SVNIT Convocation: Unity, Innovation, and Women in Technology
President Commends Hard Work, Encourages Students to Use Skills for Nation Building
President Droupadi Murmu graced the 20th convocation ceremony of Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat, on Monday, February 12th. Her address offered words of encouragement to the graduating students, emphasizing the importance of values, innovation, and women's empowerment in nation building.
"This day is historic," President Murmu declared, recognizing the significance of the occasion for both the institution and the graduating students. She acknowledged the combined efforts of students, families, and faculty in achieving success, emphasizing the pivotal role of perseverance and guidance.
Drawing inspiration from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the institute's namesake, she urged the graduates to imbibe his values of "determination, dedication, and resolve." These values, she asserted, would empower them to overcome challenges and achieve their aspirations.
The President expressed her delight at the rising number of women in engineering education. "Daughters are getting higher education and making careers in science and technology," she stated, applauding their initiative. She cited her recent interaction with women entrepreneurs as an example of their remarkable advancements and contributions to the nation's progress. "I firmly believe that women will play a leading role in building our country," she affirmed.
Addressing the graduates as future engineers and scientists, President Murmu urged them to leverage their technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and innovative thinking for nation building. She exhorted them to "make science your guide and charioteer," seeking solutions that not only meet international standards but also set new benchmarks for innovation, efficiency, and inclusivity.
The ceremony witnessed the felicitation of 1434 student graduates across various programs, including 293 women. Additionally, 23 students received gold medals for their outstanding academic performance.
President Murmu's inspiring message serves as a beacon for the graduating class, motivating them to utilize their knowledge and skills with responsibility and contribute to a brighter future for India.
