AM/NS India Clinches Victory in T-20 Corporate Cricket Tournament

Nail-biting Final Against Surat Municipal Corporation Ends on the Last Ball

Hazira-Surat, 25th March 2023 – ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) emerged victorious in a thrilling final match against the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) team, securing the AM/NS India T-20 Corporate Cricket Tournament trophy on Saturday. The tournament was organized by the Surat District Cricket Association (SDCA) and featured a total of 20 major industry houses, Surat Police, and SMC.

AM/NS India won the toss in the final match, held at AM/NS Stadium in Hazira township, and elected to bowl first. SMC scored 128 runs with the loss of eight wickets. AM/NS India chased down the target, losing nine wickets in the process, and secured victory on the final ball of the match.

Entering the final two overs, AM/NS India needed 16 runs to win. They scored nine runs in the 19th over, leaving them with seven runs to score in the last over. With the requirement down to one run off the last ball, AM/NS India successfully scored, winning a tightly contested match against a strong SMC team and lifting the trophy.

Devar scored 104 runs and took 12 wickets throughout the tournament. Chirag Patel from the SMC team was awarded Best Batsman, having scored a total of 200 runs in seven innings, while Jagdish Selar, also from SMC, secured the title of Best Bowler with a total of 14 wickets in six innings.

SMC Commissioner Shalini Agrawal served as the Guest of Honour, and SDCA Secretary Dr. Naimesh Desai was present at the prize distribution ceremony. The 35-day long league showcased fierce competition and sportsmanship among the teams from 20 major industry houses, Surat Police, and SMC, highlighting the passion for cricket in the region.
