Anand : Congress Faces Exodus in Borsad: Over 2,500 Workers Join BJP

Anand : In a major blow to the Congress party, more than 2,500 party workers, ranging from booth-level volunteers to Sarpanches, switched allegiance to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday in Borsad, Anand district. The mass induction ceremony, held in the presence of Anand MP Mitesh Patel and BJP State President CR Patil, marked a significant setback for the Congress in the upcoming assembly elections.

Patil Hails Decision, Attacks Previous Regime

Addressing the gathering, Patil lauded the workers' decision, attributing it to their desire for development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. He criticized the years of "exploitative rule" by the same family in the region, claiming that Borsad had been deprived of development due to ineffective leadership. "You have given an opportunity to BJP by rejecting a party that was zero in development but ahead in ruling," he stated.

Workers Seek Change, Allege Lack of Direction

Patil further emphasized that workers join parties based on ideology and a desire to contribute. He implied dissatisfaction with the Congress leadership, stating, "When the leadership becomes directionless and lacks integrity, what can happen to you?" This resonated with the departing workers, who reportedly expressed their disillusionment with the party's current state.

District BJP Leaders Present

Several prominent BJP leaders, including District President Rajesh Patel, District Incharge Rakesh Shah, and District General Secretary Jagat Patel, were present at the ceremony. This mass induction is expected to strengthen the BJP's position in Borsad ahead of the crucial assembly elections, potentially impacting the overall electoral landscape in Gujarat.
