Surat court has sentenced Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to two years of imprisonment and imposed a fine in a defamation case. The written judgment was issued following the initial pronouncement of the sentence. While awaiting the written verdict, Gandhi visited the circuit house and held a meeting with Congress leaders.

After the meeting, Congress leaders Bharat Singh Solanki and Arjun Modhwadia accompanied Rahul Gandhi to the Marriott Hotel for lunch. However, Gandhi expressed his desire to dine at a traditional Gujarati establishment, leading the group to Sasuma Hotel on Ring Road, as suggested by former Congress MLA Laljibhai Desai.

At Sasuma Hotel, Rahul Gandhi enjoyed an array of Gujarati dishes, including Rabri Malai, Moong Ka Halwa, Punjabi samosas, Sevpuri Chaat, and Maize Dhokla. The main course featured spinach, gram and garlic potato curry, Punjabi paneer vegetable, and garlic potato. Gandhi also consumed pulses at the insistence of the present leaders, accompanied by chapatti and two glasses of buttermilk.

During the meal, hotel owner Sanjaybhai Gajera requested a photograph with the Congress leader. Rahul Gandhi jokingly warned Gajera of potential trouble for taking a photo with him, but later posed for a picture with the hotel staff upon leaving. Gandhi humorously advised the staff to be cautious and to contact him if any issues arose.
