Van Bandhu Vishwabandhu: Gujarat Embarks on Tribal Development Mission with Ambitious 'Van Setu Chetna Yatra'

Navsari, Gujarat : In a major push for tribal development and cultural integration, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel flagged off the five-day 'Van Setu Chetna Yatra' from Navsari district on Thursday. Aiming to bridge the gap between forest communities and mainstream society, the yatra will traverse 51 talukas across 13 districts, reaching out to over 3 lakh tribal citizens.

Empowering Van Bandhu, Strengthening Van Setu:

Addressing the inaugural gathering, Chief Minister Patel outlined a comprehensive vision for tribal upliftment. He announced a record allocation of Rs 47,000 crore under the revamped Van Bandhu Kalyan Yojana in 2023-24, emphasizing the government's commitment to making "Van Bandhu Vishwabandhu" (forest brother, global citizen) a reality.

Adding to this thrust, the state unveiled plans for establishing new medical colleges in Navsari, Dangs, Aravalli, Chhota Udepur, and Mahisagar districts, bringing accessible healthcare closer to tribal communities.

Spiritual Blessings and Cleanliness Pledge:

The inauguration commenced with a visit to the revered Unai Mata temple, where the Chief Minister and dignitaries sought blessings for the yatra's success and the state's prosperity. In keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for a national cleanliness campaign, they also undertook a cleanliness drive within the temple complex, marking a symbolic gesture of purity and renewal.

Connecting Cultures, Celebrating Heritage:

The yatra's route encompasses significant cultural milestones, including Dang district and Shabari Dham, revered as symbols of tribal identity. Chief Minister Patel highlighted the region's connection to Ramayana, emphasizing the significance of Shabari Mata and her spiritual bond with Lord Rama.

Recognizing the crucial role of tribal communities in environmental protection, the Chief Minister expressed optimism that the yatra will raise awareness about wildlife conservation among all citizens.
