Surat : Broadway International School Hosts Seminar on 'Fit Hai to Hit Hai' – A Blueprint for Youth Wellness

In a bid to inspire and educate the youth on holistic well-being, Broadway International School recently hosted a seminar titled 'Fit Hai to Hit Hai.' Renowned health expert, Dr. Prashant Kariya, delivered a compelling session emphasizing the significance of maintaining physical, mental, and social health. The crux of his guidance centered around the mantra 'EARN' – where E stands for Exercise, A for Avoid Screens, R for Rest, and N for Nutrition.

E for Exercise – A Lifelong Investment in Health

Dr. Kariya underscored the importance of instilling exercise habits from a young age. Emphasizing the enduring impact of youth habits, he advocated for dedicating at least 60 minutes daily to physical activity. Citing the example of Olympic champion Michael Phelps, who attributed his success to consistent daily practice, Dr. Kariya stressed the transformative power of regular exercise on both physical and mental fitness. He encouraged the use of technology, such as the 7 Minute Workout app, to facilitate accessible and varied aerobic exercises for youngsters.

A for Avoid Screens – Balancing Technology in Youth Lives

Addressing the prevalent issue of excessive screen time among youth, Dr. Kariya advised limiting screen use to one hour daily. He recommended the use of screen time apps to regulate mobile usage, highlighting the adverse effects of screen exposure on sleep quality. Stressing the importance of melatonin hormone for good sleep, Dr. Kariya urged students to be mindful of screen usage, particularly before bedtime.

R for Rest – The Crucial Element for Growth

Underscoring the significance of adequate sleep for adolescents, Dr. Kariya recommended a minimum of 8 hours of nightly rest. He proposed optimal sleeping hours between 10 to 6 or 9 to 5, emphasizing the secretion of growth hormone during this period. Acknowledging the critical role sleep plays in the physical development of adolescents, he highlighted the importance of establishing healthy sleep patterns.

N for Nutrition – Building a Foundation for a Balanced Life

Dr. Kariya concluded the seminar by emphasizing the importance of nutrition. He advocated for a balanced diet comprising 50 percent vegetables, fruits, and salads, 25 percent protein, and 25 percent other foods. Stressing the importance of hydration, he urged individuals to consume an adequate amount of water daily, aligning with the duration of wakefulness.

The seminar left an indelible mark on attendees, providing a comprehensive roadmap for the youth to 'EARN' their health and pave the way for a vibrant and fulfilling future.
