Surat - Dilip Kumar Gadodiya, a prominent textile businessman and social worker in Surat, has submitted a memorandum urging the extension of the service tenure of Surat Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Tomar at both the national and state levels. In an appeal addressed to the country's Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi, and State BJP President and MP CR Patil, Gadodiya expressed his admiration for Tomar's significant contributions to the city's law and order.
In the memorandum, Gadodiya lauded the positive impact of Commissioner Tomar's tenure on Surat's law and order situation. He highlighted various successful campaigns initiated by Tomar, such as Cyber Sanjeevani, Drug Eradication, Traffic Rules, Fit-Surat, Tera Tujhko Arpan, and improvements in police station services. These initiatives have transformed the public perception of the police force, eliminating the fear among common people.
Gadodiya emphasized that Commissioner Tomar's leadership has played a pivotal role in fostering a positive image of the police force, with commendable support from the Chief Minister of the state and the Minister of State for Home. He stressed that Tomar, an honest, dutiful, learned, and experienced officer, is set to retire soon, and retaining an officer of his caliber is crucial, especially with general elections approaching.
While suggesting the possibility of extending Tomar's service period in Surat, Gadodiya proposed that, if in accordance with regulations, Tomar's tenure cannot be extended in Surat, his valuable experience should be utilized at a higher level of responsibility, possibly as the Commissioner of Police for a major city like Ahmedabad or even at the central level for the entire country. The appeal underscores the importance of continuity in leadership and leveraging Tomar's expertise in maintaining and improving law and order.
