Africa Beckons: India Unveils Opportunities at Vibrant Gujarat Summit
Gandhinagar : Day two of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit 2024 witnessed a dynamic exchange on potential India-Africa partnerships, with a seminar titled "Africa the Next Frontier and Scope for India" drawing high-level representation and optimism.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, chairing the session, emphasized the role of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) in driving shared prosperity. "Gujarat and Africa showcase promising synergy between possibilities, potential, and prosperity," he said, advocating for a balanced focus on industrial development, skill development, knowledge, technology, and human relations alongside economic security.
Ghanaian Minister-Counsellor Ernest Nana Adjaye extended a warm welcome to Indian investors, highlighting Ghana's leading resource exports like gold, lithium, oil, and agricultural products. "We've also made strides in tourism and healthcare," he added, "and prosperous Indian states like Gujarat can find a fertile ground for growth here."
Ugandan Ambassador Margaret L. Kyogir echoed the sentiment, outlining lucrative avenues in agriculture, food processing, fish and juice production, coffee, dairy, poultry, education, mining, healthcare, and tourism. "Africa presents ample opportunities, and India should seize this direction," she declared.
Dr. Sunanda Rajendran, Secretary General of the Indo-Africa Chamber of Commerce and Industries, identified promising areas for collaboration, stressing the need for Indian expertise in infrastructure, agriculture, dairy development, renewable energy, and education. "Africa's young population demands these solutions, and India can be a key partner," he elaborated, presenting a roadmap for strategic collaborations.
Burkina Faso Ambassador Dr. Diagere Somme, along with corporate leaders and industrialists from both continents, participated in the lively discussion, solidifying the commitment to exploring the vast potential of India-Africa partnerships.
With optimism high and possibilities abundant, the seminar painted a vibrant picture of a future where India and Africa can bridge the geographical gap and co-create a shared path towards prosperity.
