Surat Police Seize Rs 40 Lakh in Liquor Smuggled in Cement Tanker
Two Arrested and One Declared Wanted in Innovative Smuggling Attempt
Surat's Kadodara GIDC police have busted a liquor smuggling operation where the contraband was hidden in a cement tanker. Two individuals have been arrested, and one person has been declared wanted. The police recovered liquor worth Rs 29.90 lakh, and the total seized goods, including the tanker, amounted to Rs 40.04 lakh.
The smuggling operation was uncovered when Kadodara GIDC police received information about an Eicher company transit mixer cement tanker transporting liquor from Goa to Kadodara, disguised as a cement shipment. Acting on the tip-off, the police set up barricades on the road near Chalthan Kadodara's service road and intercepted the tanker, discovering a large quantity of liquor inside.
The illegal liquor was concealed within the transit mixer of the cement tanker to avoid suspicion. The Kadodara police seized the liquor, Rs 4300 in cash, two mobile phones, and the cement tanker, totaling Rs 40.04 lakh in confiscated goods. Driver Pappu Mahaveer Sharma and Abdul Rehman Rahmatullah Khan were arrested, while a person named Nagendra, who ordered the liquor, has been declared wanted. Further action is being taken by the police.
