Dholera Rises: India's Premier Platinum-Rated Smart City Takes Flight

Dholera, the country's premier platinum-rated industrial smart city, is rapidly transforming into a reality. With 95% of Phase-I development projects completed, this sprawling 22.54 sq km region is attracting global investors and businesses eager to tap into its immense potential.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel recently visited Dholera to assess the progress and highlight its strategic location, modern infrastructure, and focus on emerging sectors like semiconductors, green hydrogen, and sustainable development. This aligns perfectly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of "Developed India@2047," making Dholera a key player in India's technological and economic future.

A Beacon of Sustainability and Growth:

Dholera boasts several unique distinctions. It's one of the first greenfield cities in the world to achieve the coveted Green City rating, showcasing its commitment to environmental responsibility. Its strategic location, roughly 100 km south of Ahmedabad and 130 km from Gandhinagar, provides excellent connectivity and access to vital resources.

The city's development is meticulously planned, with dedicated zones for industries, residential spaces, mixed-use areas, entertainment hubs, social infrastructure, and tourism. Phase-I itself features a robust water management system, a 50 MLD water treatment plant, and a sophisticated sewage treatment facility, ensuring sustainability and a high quality of life for residents and workers.

Connectivity is Key:

Dholera is rapidly becoming a transportation hub, accessible by air, rail, road, and sea. A state-of-the-art 4-lane expressway to Ahmedabad is nearing completion, targeted for 2024. Metro rail construction is also progressing swiftly, promising efficient internal and regional connectivity.

The multi-modal transport system also includes a regional freight corridor, dedicated public transport lanes, and intercity bus rapid transit (BRT) and mass rapid transit (MRT) networks. Additionally, the Bhimnath-Dholera freight rail line and Dholera International Airport, slated to commence cargo operations by December 2025, further bolster the city's accessibility and trade potential.

Investing in the Future:

Dholera is attracting major players across various industries. A dedicated Semicon City is being established, positioning Dholera as a crucial contributor to India's ambitious semiconductor and display manufacturing goals. Leading renewable energy companies like ReNew Power and Tata Chemicals are setting up solar module and lithium-ion battery manufacturing plants, showcasing Dholera's commitment to clean energy.

Furthermore, with over 8500 hectares earmarked for solar parks, Dholera is playing a significant role in achieving India's target of 250 GW green energy production by 2030. Companies like Gujarat Power Corporation Limited and Tata Power have already begun renewable energy projects here, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable future.

Dholera's Potential is Unlimited:

Dholera's potential extends beyond energy and technology. It holds immense promise in sectors like defense, aviation, electronics, hi-tech pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, and heavy engineering. Its strategic location along the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) further enhances its attractiveness for investors and businesses.

With its world-class infrastructure, focus on sustainability, and diverse investment opportunities, Dholera is poised to become a global industrial hub, attracting talent, driving innovation, and contributing significantly to India's economic and technological growth. Dholera's rise is not just a story of urban development; it's a testament to India's vision for a greener, more prosperous future.
