Surat Police Loan Fair Distributes Loans Worth 37.35 Crores

The Surat District Police organized a loan camp to help combat the issue of usury in the region. At the event, held at Swaminarayan Mission, Valak Patiya, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi presented loan assistance checks totaling INR 37.35 crores to 2415 individuals in need. Sanghvi stated that the state government's campaign against usury has led to the arrest of thousands of unscrupulous moneylenders.

The minister also warned moneylenders who exploit ordinary citizens to leave Gujarat, citing that over 3500 Lok Darbars have been conducted across the state to address citizen complaints. He praised the state police for their efforts in returning seized assets, such as mangalsutras and homes, to their rightful owners.

According to ADGP Piyush Patel, the collaborative campaign between the Surat range area and Surat district police has provided over INR 80 crores in assistance across the range, with INR 37 crores given to 2476 beneficiaries in the district. The campaign has led to the registration of 137 offenses and the arrest of 70 accused individuals. During the loan fair, Minister Harsh Sanghvi also honored outstanding police personnel and bank officers for their contributions.
