14th Convention India Conclave Concludes: Gujarat Embraces the MICE Industry

Gandhinagar, Gujarat: The 3-day 14th Convention India Conclave (CIC), organized by Tourism Corporation Gujarat Limited (TCGL) and the India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB), concluded successfully on Saturday, December 9th. Held at the Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Center in Gandhinagar, the event focused on "Sustainable MICE: Empowering Events Towards a $5 Trillion Economy."

The conclave's main objective was to promote India as a leading destination for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE). The program witnessed a plethora of engaging sessions, insightful discussions, and significant announcements, culminating in a roadmap for the future of MICE in Gujarat.

Inauguration and MOUs:

The event kicked off on December 7th with a grand inauguration ceremony attended by dignitaries such as Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Minister of Tourism Mulubhai Bera, ICPB Vice President Amresh Tiwari, and key officials from TCGL and ICPB.

The ceremony witnessed the signing of MoUs between TCGL and ICPB with various organizations like the Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohematology, Indian Endodontic Society, AIDS Society of India, and Fire Safety Association of India. Additionally, TCGL and ICPB inked an international MOU with the International Congress and Conventions Association (ICCA).

  • Meet in India: The second day began with a session moderated by ICCA CEO, Senthil Gopinath, discussing strategies to develop India as a key MICE destination.
  • Iconic Gujarat: This session highlighted Gujarat's rich cultural heritage, advanced infrastructure, and welcoming hospitality, emphasizing its potential as a MICE hub.
  • Sustainable MICE: Session 3 focused on gender equality and its crucial role in the MICE industry, advocating for equal opportunities and empowering women.
  • Sustainability in Tourism: Moderated by ITC Limited Executive Director Nakul Anand, this session discussed the impact of climate change and promoted sustainable practices in event planning.

Exploring Opportunities and Future Initiatives:

The third day of the conclave delve into exploring sponsorship and bidding opportunities, enhancing India's MICE competitiveness, and leveraging AI technology for industry growth.

Key Outcomes and Future Plans:

  • ICPB Gujarat Chapter: The conclave witnessed the official launch of the "Gujarat Chapter" of ICPB, marking a significant step towards establishing Gujarat as a prominent MICE destination.
  • National MICE Awards: The conclave announced the introduction of National MICE Awards to recognize and reward excellence across all stakeholders in the MICE industry.
  • Targeted MICE Development Plan: The conclave established a roadmap for developing a comprehensive plan to foster the MICE business in Gujarat.
