Prime Minister Narendra Modi has granted approval for the establishment of a PM MITRA (PM Mega Integrated Textile Design Apparel Park) Mega Textile Park in Vasi-Borsi, Navsari, near Surat, Gujarat. The park is one of seven planned under the PM MITRA Park Scheme, which aims to stimulate growth in the textile industry across India. Other states included in the scheme are Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Karnataka.

Chamber of Commerce President Himanshu Bodawala expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi, Union Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of State for Textiles and Railways Darshanaben Zardosh, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and Gujarat BJP President C.R. Patil for their support. According to Bodawala, the textile industry in South Gujarat had eagerly awaited the approval of the PM Mitra Mega Textiles Park, which will significantly contribute to the development of Surat's textile industry and its global reputation.

The South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry had made repeated representations to secure the park's establishment since the PM Mitra Park scheme was announced last year. The new park is expected to provide a significant boost to the region's textile industry and overall economic growth.
