SURAT - Untimely rains have caused widespread disruption to the wedding season in Surat, Gujarat, India. Party plot owners and event organizers are facing crores of rupees in losses due to cancellations and damage to venues.

According to Umeshbhai Zhadfia, President of the Surat Party Plot Association, the unseasonal rains have dealt a severe blow to the industry. "Party plot managers have suffered huge losses," he lamented. "Those who had booked the party plot have decided to cancel the event for 3 days due to rain."
The damage extends beyond cancellations, with strong winds causing extensive damage to party plot decorations. Entrance gates, pavilions, and chairs have been destroyed, leaving organizers with the daunting task of repair and cleanup.
The Surat wedding season is a major economic driver for the city, and these cancellations are expected to have a significant impact on local businesses. The losses are estimated to be in the crores, affecting not only party plot owners but also caterers, florists, and other service providers.
