Delhi Police serve notice to Rahul Gandhi after two failed attempts

New Delhi, March 17 (IANS) The Delhi Police made two unsuccessful attempts to serve a notice to Rahul Gandhi at his residence in Delhi. The notice was issued after the Congress MP mentioned about the victims of sexual harassment in his Bharat Jodo Yatra speech in January in Srinagar.

According to sources, the police team visited Gandhi's residence on March 15 and waited for three hours, but he did not meet them. The team visited again on March 16 and served the notice after waiting for one-and-a-half hour.

The notice seeks details about the victims of sexual harassment who had approached him to seek security. The Delhi Police took cognisance of social media posts and sent a list of questionnaires.

Reacting to the notice, the Congress in a statement said: "A government rattled by Rahul Gandhi's questions on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gautam Adani's relationship hides behind its police. This notice is yet another proof of a government in panic and their latest salvo to weaken democracy, women empowerment, freedom of expression and role of the opposition."
