Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel Visits Japan to Discuss Green Hydrogen Investment

Gandhinagar, Gujarat - A high-level delegation from the state led by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel reached Japan's capital Tokyo on Sunday morning. India's Ambassador to Japan S. George welcomed Chief Minister Patel when he reached there. The delegation held a meeting with Kotaro Nagasaki, Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture and had detailed discussions on investment possibilities in the green hydrogen sector in Gujarat.

The delegation is on a foreign tour from November 26 to December 2 with the aim of inviting entrepreneurs to invest in the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit-2024 to be held from January 10 to 12 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. After Japan, this delegation will travel to Singapore.

Discussions on Green Hydrogen Investment

According to the Gujarat government, Chief Minister Patel and other members of the delegation visited Yamanashi Hydrogen Company. They discussed with the Governor of Yamanashi about the possibilities of investment in the green hydrogen sector in Gujarat. The Chief Minister also saw the demonstration of the supply, selling and servicing process of green hydrogen.

Governor Nagasaki Kotaro said that Yamanashi Hydrogen Company looks forward to participating in the upcoming Vibrant Summit through this demonstration and other green hydrogen initiatives. Kotaro warmly welcomed Chief Minister Patel and the Gujarat delegation and expressed hope that this meeting will further strengthen bilateral relations.

India's Commitment to Green Hydrogen

Chief Minister Patel said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, initiatives like National Green Hydrogen Mission, National Electric Mobility Mission Plan, target of net zero carbon emission by 2070 have been taken in India. The Chief Minister informed about the target of taking the renewable energy portfolio in Gujarat to 100 GW and the Gujarat New Renewable Policy.

He invited the Yamanashi Governor to attend the Vibrant Summit 2024 to provide new opportunities and new investments to Japan-Gujarat relations in the renewable energy sector and green hydrogen sector.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations

The Governor of Yamanashi was present in this meeting even on Sunday, a holiday. The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to him for this. Under the leadership of Gujarat Chief Secretary Raj Kumar, senior secretaries of the state government and leading industrialists were also present during the meeting.

This visit by Chief Minister Patel and the Gujarat delegation is a significant step towards strengthening bilateral relations between India and Japan, particularly in the areas of renewable energy and green hydrogen. The Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit-2024 is expected to be a major platform for showcasing investment opportunities in these sectors.
