Ahmedabad : Celebration of 'Atal Bhujal Fortnight' Across Gujarat from February 13 to 27, 2023

Ahmedabad : The 'Atal Bhujal Fortnight' will be celebrated in the areas under the 'Atal Bhujal Yojana' across the state of Gujarat from February 13 to 27, 2023. The celebration shall be inaugurated by the Minister of Water Supply and Water Resources, Srikunvarjibhai Bavlia. The event will took place at the National Forensic Sciences University in Gandhinagar on February 13.

Several dignitaries are going to be present on the occasion, including State Water Supply Minister Mukeshbhai Patel, Gandhinagar North MLA Ritaben Patel, Gandhinagar South MLA Alpeshbhai Thakor, Gandhinagar District Panchayat President Dilipbhai Patel, Special Secretary (Water Resources) K. B. Rabadia and Gandhinagar Collector Pravina D. K.

The 'Atal Bhujal Yojana' is being implemented by the Gujarat Water Resources Development Corporation Limited in Gandhinagar under the Narmada, Water Resources, Water Resources and Kalpsar Division. The scheme covers 1873 gram panchayats of 36 talukas in the districts of Gandhinagar, Sabarkantha, Patan, Mehsana, Banaskantha and Kutch.

The main objective of the 'Atal Bhujal Yojana' is to improve the infrastructure for groundwater management and provide the village communities with accurate and appropriate understanding of groundwater statistics and information. The scheme is being implemented with the help of voluntary and non-government organizations and aims to build public awareness and capacity. New check dams, well recharge, and deepening of ponds are being undertaken to increase the water supply in the districts covered by the scheme. The scheme also focuses on promoting the adoption of micro-irrigation systems and other measures to reduce water demand and improve the efficient use of water.

In conclusion, the 'Atal Bhujal Fortnight' will provide an opportunity to raise awareness about the important role of groundwater management in preserving water resources and ensuring water security. The celebration will also highlight the initiatives being taken by the government to improve groundwater management in the state of Gujarat.
