Surat Woman's Organ Donation Illuminates Three Lives

In a remarkable display of compassion and generosity, the Wagh family from Surat has become the beacon of hope for three individuals in need after the tragic demise of 54-year-old Jayaben Nanabhai Wagh. The selfless act of organ donation has not only brought new life to those in despair but has also set a commendable milestone for the society.

On November 21, 2023, tragedy struck when Jayaben Wagh, a resident of Shriram Nagar Society in Amroli and originally from Deud village of Dhulia, was involved in a road accident. Despite efforts by medical professionals at Kiran Hospital, including neurosurgery performed by Dr. Bhumik Thakor, Dr. Hina Faldu, Dr. Darshan Trivedi, and Dr. Mehul Panchal, Jayaben was declared brain dead.

Faced with the somber reality, the grieving family reached out to Harish Pajare and Dixit Trivedi, who, in turn, connected with the Jeevandeep Organ Donation Foundation through Dilipdada Deshmukh, founder of the Organ Donation Charitable Trust. A collaborative effort between the medical team and the Wagh family ensued, as they deliberated the importance of organ donation.

In a heartening turn of events, the family consented to organ donation, with Jayaben's liver and two kidneys being accepted at Kiran Hospital. These vital organs have since been transplanted into a 28-year-old man from Maharashtra, a 54-year-old woman from Bharuch, and a 49-year-old woman from Surat – all currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Vipul Talaviya of Jeevandeep Organ Donation Foundation highlighted the spiritual values of the Wagh family, emphasizing how their understanding of the significance of organ donation led to this noble decision. Jayaben's sons, Yogesh and Vinod, who work as a laser operator and electrician respectively at Kiran Gems, have not only left an indelible mark on the lives of the recipients but have also paved the way for a more compassionate society.
