Surat : Bold Heist Shakes Shraddha Society - Elderly Cloth Merchant Robbed of Rs 6.88 Lakh Worth of Valuables

In a daring act of burglary, the residence of 70-year-old textile businessman Bharatkumar Ramanlal Khambati, located in Shraddha Society, Sumul Dairy Road, Surat, became the target of audacious thieves who made away with a loot valued at Rs 6.88 lakh.

Bharatkumar and his wife had left for their second home in Daman on the 15th, while his son and family were away in Mathura. The crime unfolded at 3:10 last night when Bharatkumar received a mobile notification, alerting him to suspicious activity in his Surat residence. Reviewing the CCTV footage, he discovered two masked individuals wandering through his house.

Swiftly, Bharatkumar alerted his brother Praveen Chandra in the neighboring bungalow, who, in turn, mobilized locals and informed the police. Responding promptly, law enforcement arrived at the scene, prompting the culprits to flee.

Upon closer inspection, it was revealed that the thieves had entered through a back kitchen window, opening screws on the iron grill. The interior of the house bore witness to the chaos left behind, with scattered household items and broken cupboard locks.

The stolen items included Rs 4.50 lakh in cash and a collection of 15 to 17 pairs of anklet bracelets. In addition, a silver anklet worth Rs 75 thousand, Rs 1 lakh in cash, a gold bracelet valued at Rs 45 thousand, and a watch worth Rs 18 thousand were pilfered from the neighbor's son's room cupboard.

The thieves operated between 1:31 am and 3:10 am before being interrupted by the police. A formal complaint has been filed at Katargam police station, and the investigation is underway, led by PSI VN Singarakhiya. The Shraddha Society community is now on high alert as they seek justice for this brazen act of criminality.
