Flyover Bridge Opens New Avenues for Smoother Commuting in City
Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) inaugurated a new flyover bridge at Bhathena Junction on the BRTS route from Kharwarnagar Junction to Parvat Patiya, on Wednesday. The bridge was inaugurated by Member of Parliament (MP) C.R. Patil, in the presence of Mayor Daksheshbhai Mavani, MLAs Sangeetaben Patil, Sandeepbhai Desai, and Manubhai Patel, and other dignitaries.
The new flyover bridge is a major relief for commuters, as it will help to alleviate traffic congestion at Bhathena Junction, which is a major intersection connecting the city with the surrounding rural areas. The bridge is also expected to reduce travel time and fuel consumption for motorists.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, MP Patil said that Surat is known as the "Bridge City" due to its numerous bridges. He added that the newly constructed flyover bridge at Bhathena Junction is a testament to the SMC's commitment to improving the city's infrastructure and providing better transportation options for its citizens.
Mayor Mavani said that the flyover bridge is a part of the SMC's ongoing efforts to make Surat a "smart city". He added that the bridge will help to improve the city's connectivity and reduce traffic congestion, making it easier for people to get around.
The flyover bridge is a four-lane structure that spans over 800 feet. It is expected to serve over 10,000 vehicles per day. The bridge is also equipped with LED lighting and other safety features.
The SMC has invested around ₹200 crores in the construction of the flyover bridge. The project was completed in two years, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The inauguration of the flyover bridge is a welcome development for the people of Surat. It is expected to significantly improve traffic flow in the city and make commuting easier for everyone.
