Surat Crime Branch Arrests Father-Son Duo for Car Break-ins, Solves 75 Cases
Accused Used Screwdriver to Break Car Windows and Steal Music Systems, Sold Stolen Goods in Chor Bazaar
The Surat Crime Branch has arrested a father-son duo, Zameen Mohammed Qureshi and Sahil Jameel Mohammed Qureshi, from Taloja, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, for their alleged involvement in over 200 cases of car break-ins and theft of valuables, including music systems and laptops, in different cities of Gujarat, including Surat.
The police have also recovered property worth Rs 5.51 lakh from the accused, including a Honda City car, a revolver, live cartridges, 16 music systems, two mobiles, and a laptop.
According to the police, the accused used to travel to Surat in a Honda City car to commit the thefts. They would break the windows of cars parked in different parts of the city and steal the valuables. After the theft, they would return to Mumbai and sell the stolen goods at cheap prices in the Chor Bazaar.
The police have so far solved 75 cases of car break-ins with the arrest of the accused. The accused have also confessed to committing thefts in other states, including Maharashtra and Karnataka.
The arrest of the father-son duo is a major breakthrough for the Surat Crime Branch in its efforts to curb the menace of car break-ins and thefts in the city.
