Gujarat Delegation Holds Roadshow in Kolkata to Promote Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024
Minister of State Harsh Sanghvi Highlights State's Economic Prowess and Investment Opportunities
Gandhinagar, November 02, 2023: A delegation from the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024 on Thursday held a roadshow in Kolkata under the leadership of Minister of State for Home and Police Housing, Industry, Sports Youth and Culture, Harsh Sanghvi. The roadshow was aimed at promoting the upcoming global summit and highlighting the state's economic prowess and investment opportunities.
In his address, Sanghvi said that Gujarat is one of the biggest contributors to the export of goods in the country, with over 33 percent of all exports coming from the state in the year 2022-23. He also informed that Gujarat handles 40 percent of India's cargo and has over 14.6 lakh registered MSMEs operating in the state, providing employment to more than 84 lakh people.
"All these figures are some prime examples of the economic power of Gujarat," Sanghvi said. "I proudly inform that two districts of Gujarat namely Surat and Ahmedabad are among the top 10 districts of India for operating the highest number of registered MSMEs."
Sanghvi also highlighted Gujarat's strong startup ecosystem, with over 7,300 DPIIT-recognized startups operating in the state, supported by a network of 210 incubators and educational institutions.
"I believe that Gujarat's industrial infrastructure, favorable policies and industry-friendly approach will prove to be very beneficial for West Bengal and Gujarat as well as the entire country," he said.
In a comprehensive presentation on the business opportunities available in Gujarat, Additional Industries Commissioner Dr. Kuldeep Arya informed the audience about the state's various investment schemes and incentives, as well as its focus on developing sectors such as green energy, electric vehicles, and manufacturing.
Eminent industrialists from Gujarat, including Sunil Gupta, Co-Founder, Managing Director and CEO of Yotta Data Services Pvt Ltd; Himanshu Priyadarshi, Head of Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability Officer, Hindustan Coca-Cola; and Sunil Duggal, President, Policy and Strategy, Vedanta Displays, also shared their experiences of doing business in Gujarat and encouraged the Kolkata business community to invest in the state.
The roadshow concluded with a vote of thanks by Ravi Aggarwal, President of Rupa & Company, Director of Neo Metallics Limited and former President of ASSOCHAM Eastern Region.
Before the roadshow, Minister Harsh Sanghvi also held one-on-one talks with various industrialists from Kolkata to discuss their investment plans and address any concerns they may have.
