South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry Meets to Discuss GIDC Issues
GST, Stamp Duty, and Double Taxation Among Key Concerns
The South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SGCCI) and Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) held a joint meeting on November 02, 2023 to discuss various issues regarding the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) with the industries of South Gujarat.
The meeting was attended by Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry Regional Secretary Prashant Patel, Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry GIDC Committee Chairman Ajit Shah, and other officials of the committee, as well as Vijay Mewawala, Vice President of SGCCI, and representatives of various GIDCs in South Gujarat.
Among the key issues discussed at the meeting were:
- OTS scheme
- Arbitrary taxes collected from GIDC including Sachin GIDC and GST tax payment
- Notification related to GIDC
- Problem of disutility
- Problem of double tax, GST, and stamp duty
- Utilization of plots given to some GIDCs and granting extensions in that regard
- Parking park plot of Umargam GIDC
The meeting participants unanimously agreed that the problems and their solutions will be presented to the government in the near future. They also discussed the need to simplify all government policies and to include at least six people associated with the GIDC industry in the Industrial Board.
The meeting was conducted by Nikhil Madrasi, Honorary Minister of SGCCI, and the vote of thanks was given by Himanshu Bodawala, former president of SGCCI. Other office bearers of SGCCI, including Honorary Treasurer Kiran Thummar, Group Chairman Bhavesh Taylor, Ashok Chodwadia, and Association Liaison Committee Chairman Deepkash Aggarwal, and Chamber's GIDC Development Committee Chairman Mitul Mehtani, also attended the meeting.
