Ahmedabad : High Court Grants Bail to Pragnesh Patel, Father of ISKCON Bridge Tragedy Accused
Pragnesh Patel Released After 103 Days
Ahmedabad, 1 November - In a recent development, the High Court has granted bail to Pragnesh Patel, the father of Tathya Patel, who was accused of a tragic incident on the ISKCON Bridge that resulted in the death of nine people. Pragnesh Patel, initially arrested for allegedly threatening witnesses to free his son from an angry mob, has been released after spending 103 days in custody.
Following the incident, where a car driven by his son, Tathya Patel, tragically crushed nine individuals on the ISKCON Bridge, both father and son were taken into police custody. Within 24 hours, they were produced before the district court, and an FIR was registered under section 506 against Pragnesh Patel, the father of the accused. However, Pragnesh Patel had not requested bail at that time, leading to his detention in Sabarmati jail under judicial custody.
Subsequently, Pragnesh Patel sought bail through his lawyer, Nisar Vaidya, and filed a petition in the High Court after his initial bail plea was rejected by the district court.
