Supreme Court upholds order to remove mosque from Allahabad HC premises

Allahabad High Court's 2017 order to remove a mosque from its premises has been upheld by the Supreme Court. The bench declined to interfere with the order and granted the petitioner three months' time to remove the mosque from the high court premises. The court also allowed the petitioner to make a representation to the state government for alternative land.

The mosque was situated on government lease land, which was cancelled in 2002, and after the cancellation of the lease, the land was resumed in favour of the high court in 2004 for its expansion.

The court noted that the mosque was situated outside the high court and was not on its premises.
