Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announces 26 Green Expressways to be Built by 2024
Toll Tax Technology to Change: New Rules to be Issued for Highway Travelers
Highway travelers can breathe a sigh of relief as Union Minister Nitin Gadkari recently announced plans to build 26 green expressways in India before 2024. In addition to the construction of new roads, the rules and techniques for toll tax collection will also be updated.
Two Methods for Toll Tax Collection
Under the new rules, the government is considering two options for toll tax collection. The first option is to install a GPS system in the car, while the second method involves a modern number plate. The government is currently finalizing plans for implementation.
No Punishment for Non-Payment of Toll Tax
Nitin Gadkari emphasized that there is currently no punishment for non-payment of toll tax. However, the government is looking to introduce a bill regarding toll tax in the future, and money will be deducted directly from bank accounts.
Improved Technology for Toll Tax Collection
The Union Minister further added that there will be a significant change in the rules and techniques for toll tax collection, with a greater focus on technology. This will include the use of GPS and modern number plates for more efficient toll tax collection.
In addition, the 2019 rule that mandates car companies to provide fitted number plates will continue to be enforced. These measures will ensure a smoother and more streamlined experience for highway travelers across the country.
