Surat City Police Organizes 7th Blood Donation Camp to Help Thalassemia Children

Surat (October 29, 2023) - The Surat City Police organized its 7th blood donation camp today to help about 1100 thalassemia suffering children of the district including Surat. The camp was held in the Dindoli area of Surat and had a target of collecting one thousand units of blood.

Surat Police Commissioner Ajay Tomar, Municipal Corporation Officer, other police officers-employees of the city, and leaders of other social organizations were present at the blood donation camp. Deputy Mayor Dr. Narendra Patil, Surat Municipal Corporation leader ruling party Shashi Tripathi, Transport Committee Chairman Somnath Marathe, former ruling party leader Amit Singh Rajput, and local councilors were also present and encouraged blood donors by distributing certificates.

Police Commissioner Tomar said that about 1100 children in the city and district are affected by Thalassemia. Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi had made a special call to help these children. With his inspiration, mega-blood camps are organized every month by the city police in collaboration with social organizations, societies, and various sectors to help the thalassemia affected children.

Six camps have been set up so far, and today's camp is the seventh. The target for this camp was to collect 1 thousand units of blood. On an average, 1200 to 1300 units of blood have been collected in the last six blood donation camps, for a total of 9 thousand units of blood so far. This collected blood can meet the blood requirement of children suffering from thalassemia every month.

The Surat City Police is committed to helping the thalassemia suffering children of the district. The blood donation camps are a testament to the police force's dedication to the community.
