Surat Celebrates Chandni Padwa with Ghari and Bhusu

Surat (October 29, 2023) - The people of Surat celebrated the festival of Chandni Padwa today with great enthusiasm. On this day, ghari bhusa namkeen worth crores of rupees is sold in a single day. Long queues were seen at the sweet shops to buy ghari since early morning and at night, Surat people were seen eating ghari sweets in groups with family and friends in the moonlight.
The sale of bhusu also increased at ghari as well as farsan shops during the celebration of Chandni Padwa in Surat. There was a queue of people since morning at the farsan shop to buy genuine Surti bhusu. Apart from this, there has also been a rise in the sales of farsans like Surti dal samosas and coconut-garlic patties with ghari.
Today, with Chandni Padwa and Sunday coming together, Surat is enjoying the festival doubly. Today the real Surti farsan bhusu was seen in the farsaan shop of Surat. Today, Sunday morning was spent with Surat's khaman and fafda, but due to the festival of Chandni Padwa, the evening of Surat people was spent with dhari and bhusu, patties and samosas.
Chandni Padwa in Surat is celebrated with a combination of sweet ghee soaked dhari with the original Surti tikha bhoosa. Due to this, chaff is stocked in farsan shops of Surat two days in advance. Just as ghari with different flavors is available in Surat, similarly different types of fancy chevda are also being sold in Surat. Though chevda is sold in a dozen flavors, but the real Surti bhusu (a mixture of spices like spicy-mora ganthiya, papdi, spicy-sweet boondi, papdi and chevda) is also sold in abundance. People go to buy tasty bhoosa from wherever they get tasty bhoosa.
Apart from this, real Surti samosa (chickpea dal-onion, mint and spices) and patties are also sold along with ghari and bhusa. On this day people celebrate Chandni Padwa enthusiastically by having fried or half fried farsan and eating it with dhari. The people of Surat associate food and drink with the festival. Such festivals bring good business for food shops in Surat.
