Gujarat : CM Bhupendra Patel Encourages Medical Teachers to Build the Future of the Country
New Faculty Development Program Launched to Promote Pro-active Practices in Medical Education and Healthcare
Gandhinagar, 28 October: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Saturday encouraged medical teachers to contribute in building the future of the country in the medical field. He was speaking at the Faculty Development Program organized at Apollo Hospital in Gandhinagar by the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Central Government.
Patel said that Gujarat has given great importance to medical education and has continuously increased the number of medical colleges and medical seats. Today, a total of 40 medical colleges, including AIIMS and other hospitals, are functioning in Gujarat. Every year, more than 7,000 doctors join the state's medical field after studying in these colleges.
He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his visionary leadership, which has led to many positive changes in the education and medical sectors in the country today. He said that the Prime Minister has laid more emphasis on pro-people governance as well as pro-active practices for every sector, including the new National Education Policy for education and the increase of 225 medical colleges and 70,000 medical seats across the country.
Patel expressed confidence that the Faculty Development Program will encourage pro-active practices in the medical education and healthcare sector. He said that these types of programs will prove important for professional development as well as personal development.
He also highlighted the various initiatives taken by the state government to improve the health of its citizens, such as the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, which has provided health cover to crores of poor families in the country, and the digital health records initiative under Ayushman Bharat Accounts.
Patel said that the dream of building multispecialty hospitals in remote villages has come true, and dialysis centers have been started in every tehsil of Gujarat for kidney disease-related dialysis. Chemotherapy centers have also been started at the district headquarters to provide important chemotherapy facilities for the treatment of serious diseases like cancer.
National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences Chairman Abhijat Seth, Executive Director Prof. Meenu Vajpayee, Apollo Hospital Chief Operating Officer Neeraj Lal, and other dignitaries and doctors were present at the event.
