Modi Inaugurates World's Longest Railway Platform and India's First Green IIT in Karnataka

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two significant infrastructure projects in Karnataka, a 1,505-meter-long railway platform and India's first eco-friendly Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campus in Dharwad city.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the world's longest railway platform and India's first green Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Karnataka's Dharwad district. The railway platform at Siddharudha Swamiji Railway Station in Hubballi now measures 1,505 meters, making it the longest railway platform in the world. The platform has also entered the Guinness Book of Records, according to sources in South Western Railway.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated India's first eco-friendly, green IIT campus in Dharwad city, built at a cost of Rs 852 crore. Modi, along with Union Minister for Mine, Coal and Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi and other dignitaries, took a tour of the campus.

Joshi, who delivered the welcome speech, praised Modi for his support in establishing the IIT in Dharwad. He said that Modi had laid the foundation stone for the project on February 10, 2019.

In his address, Modi said that the double-engine government has provided a new speed to the development process. He also highlighted that his government does not only lay the foundation stone but also inaugurates and dedicates projects. The Prime Minister also got the opportunity to dedicate the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway.

The inauguration of these two projects is a significant development for the state of Karnataka and India's infrastructure as a whole.
